Suicide By Love

This is old, and I mean really old...we're talking like freshmen-year-of-high school old. I think I was 15 when this was written. This may be one of the first pieces I wrote for personal reasons, and really felt like it was worth something. At the time this was how I felt about a good friend; that person and I no longer talk. But at the time, the emotions were strong, so thanks to a pen, notebook, and headphones playing The Fray, this is what I was able to make.

"Suicide by Love"

What do you do when you love but can't speak?
The words are there
They're on the tip of your tongue
Constantly on your mind
Telling her those three words is all you think about

Yet your the best friend
Always there, always will be
Closer than brother and sister
When you hug, the words rush to the tip of your tongue

But you can't tell her, no matter how happy you'd be
For to speak is to say goodbye
Your greatest joy is your unfathomable pain
It's suicide by love

So you don't speak but continue to love, your
The shoulder that's cried on
The lent ear that hears it all
The rock that never strays and always supports

But all the while your dying inside
She seems happy, but you know it's a lie
You know she'd be so much happier with you
She'd have a real love, not just lust
But it'll never happen, for to speak is to lose

And so it goes
I never spoke, I never lost
She never heard, she never knew
I committed suicide by love
